be eligible for distance services, you must meet one of

or alumna living or working 50 or more miles from New Brunswick |

Alumnus,

currently studying abroad |

student in his or her home country during semester breaks

| We
offer the following distance career services: |

networking strategies, job search strategies, and salary
negotiations) |

| Fees |
|
Eligible
alumni will be charged a fee of $50 per 45-minute session.
The session may include a document critique and career
guidance. This fee also includes a second review of the
document, if requested by the client.
Eligible
students will not be charged a fee for distance career
services.

Steps |
|
Complete
the online Request
for Distance Services (RDS) form. |
|
The
distance counselor reviews your RDS form and will contact
you via phone or e-mail to conduct a brief intake interview
to clarify your goals and expectations. This is a free service
without obligation and should take no more than 5-10 minutes. |

If
your counselor and you decide to continue the process, your
counselor will: |
|
 |
Discuss
and determine the preferred mode of delivery. |
|
|
Set
a time for the initial session via phone or a timeframe
for e-mail exchanges. |
|
|
Request
that you print, read and sign the Professional
Disclosure and Consent Form. |
|
|
Request
that you send a check for $50 payable to Rutgers, The State
University to:

No
services will be delivered prior to the receipt of your
check.

If
services will not be offered, you will receive an e-mail
message with suggestions for other career guidance options,
including an in-person appointment, ReadyMinds (a recognized
distance counseling service), the Rutgers Psychological
Clinic, the Career Services website and reciprocal services
at other college career centers. |

If
additional sessions are requested, you will be responsible
for paying for them in advance. |
