| A
Message from the Committee
As the
committee discussed the context for this conference, in the
midst of these unique times, we thought it important to focus
on who we are as Higher Education professionals. As we come
together to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of professional
development offered through the Student Life Conferences the
phrase, "in times of transition, our community is unity"
was introduced, and we believe it represents the value and
importance of this conference as we reaffirm our commitment
to students, student affairs, and our own professional and
personal development.
The conference
will begin with a panel presentation by students to refocus
our thoughts on the goals of the reorganization - improving
the quality of undergraduate education. Because this is not
a "typical" Student Affairs Conference, we have
pursued presentations by our colleagues in Human Resources,
Counseling, and Organizational Development and Leadership
to provide sessions focusing on the challenges of transition
and how to effectively manage change. We invite proposals
from topics that speak to the new opportunities within reorganization,
times of transition, community development and student learning.
We look
forward to seeing you on November 17th and appreciate your
continued support and participation of the Student Life Conference.

Life Conference Planning Committee
